DIY TRUNK TABLE

I’m so excited to finally share with you guys our DIY coffee/tea table that I finished a few weeks ago and didn’t have time to share. It’s been a crazy few weeks for us as we all got the flu and it has caused us to fall behind on a lot of projects. I am always working on multiple projects at any given time;  I really wanted to convert an old trunk because we needed extra storage for our throw blankets and pillows. It’s so nice to be able to toss our throw blankets and pillows in our table and have easy access to them when we want to use them again. This piece could also be a toy box, window seat, and so much more! I personally love it as a tea table, I’m a huge tea lover and calling it a coffee table just seems wrong!

What you need:

  • Vintage trunk
  • Metal leg attachments (Home Depot)
  • Wooden legs (Home Depot)
  • Screwdriver

Step 1:

Find the perfect trunk!

I found mine at a local antique store but you can find them at flea markets, estate sales, and yard sales. I decided to paint mine white with Rust-Oleum white linen chalk paint.

Step 2:

Buy legs and metal leg attachments for your new table. The best part is both the legs and metal attachments were under $3 each. I found mine at Home Depot but Loews has them as well.  I decided to cut the wood legs down a bit because they were taller than what I wanted but they were cheaper than the other shorter leg options.

Step 3:

Attach the Legs

You will need a drill or a strong arm and a screwdriver. Next, you’ll simply screw the metal leg attachments onto the bottom of your trunk. Then screw the legs into the metal leg attachments and that’s it! You’re done!!
