It has been a dream of mine for a long time to have a beautiful chandelier hanging over my dining table. The only hurdle we had was the fan hanging above our dining table had no light switch. Without a light switch we’d have no way of turning the new chandelier on or off. The only way to turn the fan on was by pulling the pull chain that hung from the fan. For three years I put it on the back burner because I didn’t want to pay the extra cost of having a light switch installed. I also, hate the idea of putting holes in the walls… you’ve seen HGTV? Right?! They always ended up running into other issues that add additional costs when opening up walls.
So I started Googling ideas that would be more cost effective and discovered wireless light switches. We decided to go with Acegoo wireless light switch kit which comes with a switch and a wireless remote. The best part is no batteries are needed and no additional wiring is needed!! I was very happy to find out we didn’t need cut holes in our walls and we didn’t need to add a wired switch. I always worried about what we might find in the walls… likely nothing but i’m sure glad I didn’t have to find out.
I asked my husband to invite his cousin over (we bribed him with pizza) who happens to be an electrician to help us install it. This wireless light switch is the perfect solution for an old house with lights that don’t have light switches and only pull cords. It only took a couple of minutes to install. See pictures below for instructions.
I couldn’t be happier with how our new chandelier looks. One last thing… you know me I love a good deal. I found our new chandelier on Facebook Market place for only $20 bucks. Yep, that’s right only $20 bucks. When I bought it, it was a dirty tan speckly color, BUT I LOVED it and knew I could add a fresh coat of paint and give it a whole new look.
I hope this post helps someone who may have the same problem as we did. This wireless light switch has been a dream come true. I’m so grateful I discovered it and hope it helps you as well!
